Heterocyclic Liquid Crystal Compounds,
Abstract
The syntheses and properties of several homologous series of new liquid crystal compounds having an azine or azole ring as the 'middle section' are described. With the preparation of liquid-crystal derivatives of alpha-pyridones and hydroxypyrazines, a structural type was found in the heterocyclic series which is analogous to that of the liquid-crystalline carboxylic acid dimers.
