Experimental Evaluation of Track Accelerator Concept for Missile Flight Simulation.

Abstract

STEVEN H. ;PA-TM-2049GIDEP306.05.00.00-N5-01(*tracks(aerodynamics), design), (*arming devices, simulation), (*guided missile components, arming devices), hypersonic characteristics, pneumatic devices, acceleration, structural members, configuration, performance(engineering)The report summarizes the achievements and findings resulting from the Phase I effort to experimentally evaluate the feasibility of a missile acceleration simulator based upon the 'Track Accelerator' (TA) concept. Under government contract, the Goodyear Aerospace Corporation (GAC) analyzed, designed, fabricated and tested a scaled down version of a TA, deriving sufficient information to accurately design and predict the performance characteristics of a full scale accelerator which would be capable of physically subjecting adaption kit components to simulated launch and flight acceleration-time environments.
