An Equation for the Plastic Deformation of Metals,

Abstract

A new equation is developed for the plastic deformation of metals under tension. It is based on the work of G. P. Zaitseva and S. I. Gubkina. The new equation is of the form: S = SBPSIP(N-1) LOG(1-PSIP) over (0.41 GPSIP) = SB(1-PSIP)-2.5(N-1), where S = true stress, SB = true uts, PSIP = limiting uniform contraction of the specimen, PSI = flow value of the relative contraction, and N = LOG PSI over LOG PSIP. The formula was verified and found to be adequately precise for Al, Cu, and the steels St3, St5, 35,45, and KhVG.
