Device for Measuring the Sliding Speed of Material on a Tool during Plastic Deformation,

Abstract

Devices exist for measuring the sliding speed of metal relative to the tool at their contact surface during shaping processes, for instance, during rolling. These devices contain a tracking element built into the tool (roller), a sensor and a recording device. The proposed device is distinguished by the fact that the tracking element is made in the form of a magnetic modulating head, whose working surface coincides with the surface of the tool (roller). This raises the accuracy of measurement by preserving the deformation conditions of the specimen in the measuring zone.
