Low Frequency Electron Temperature Fluctuations in Fully Ionized Plasmas.

Abstract

Experimental investigations were made to substantiate the existence of periodic fluctuations of the electron temperature accompanying drift type instabilities in a Q-device. Preliminary results of measurements are reported. For all cases measured, the normalized plasma temperature fluctuations T/T sub 0 were found to be smaller than the normalized density and floating potential fluctuations n/n sub 0 and e(phi sub f)/k(T sub 0). The experimental results are compared to existing theory. (Author)
