Non-Blocking UHF Communications System (BASECOM).

Abstract

S, MULTIPLE OPERATIONINTERMODULATIONThe report describes the design, construction, and test of a non-blocking UHF communications terminal. The terminal consists of four transmitters and four receivers contained in a single 19-inch rack enclosure. The unique design of the terminal allows operation of the transmitters and receivers on adjacent 50-kilohertz channels anywhere in the 406-megahertz (MHz) to 420 MHz frequency band without mutual interference. This is accomplished through the use of spectrally pure transmitters and extremely low intermodulation receivers in a four-channel concept using a common receiver front end. A manually adjustable interference cancellation network is used to optimize system performance. The system uses a single high gain, omi-directional antenna for both transmit and receive. (Author)
