The Calculation of the Cylindrical Illumination in Rooms in Public Buildings (Raschet Tsilindricheskoi Osveshchennosti v Pomeshcheniyakh Obshchestvennykh Zdanii),

Abstract

The ratio of the horizontal to the cylindrical illumination increases with increase in the concentration of the luminous flux from the lighting fittings. The reflecting properties of the room walls and floor have a marked effect on the magnitude of the illumination ratio. For all the types of lighting fitting luminous intensity distribution examined, the ratio increases substantially when the room walls and floor have low reflectances. The room index has a negligible effect on the illumination ratio. This effect is somewhat more pronounced at low room index values (0.5 - 1.5) and when the room walls and, in particular, the floor have low reflectances. (Author)
