Survey of Microwave Attenuation Due to Atmospheric Gases and Precipitation.

Abstract

The report reviews microwave-radiation attenuation caused by atmospheric gases (oxygen and uncondensed water vapor) and by precipitation (rain, hail, snow, fog, and cloud). Comparisons are made of values of attenuation for various representative values of meteorological parameters such as water vapor content, precipitation rate, and water droplet content. (Author)
