Design and Analysis of a Proportional Fluid Amplifier.

Abstract

The study is part of a continuing research effort to develop a model suitable for predicting the dynamic performance of the jet interaction type, proportional fluid amplifier. The model presented in this study takes into account the dynamics of the connecting air lines and load as well as the physical phenomena occurring within the amplifier. The resulting equations are developed in an analog format suitable for parametric study and nonlinear simulation to predict static and dynamic performance for this type of fluid amplifier. A large scale plexiglass model was designed to operate on air at room temperature. Results of this experimental study are presented for the steady state performance of the amplifier. (Author)
