Abstract

The report contains the final reports of the research conducted by the Dental Clerks assigned to the Naval Dental Research Institute during the summer of 1972. The project titles are as follows: The prevalence of streptococcus mutans in children; The effect of streptococcus mutans on enamel surfaces as viewed by scanning electron microscopy; The extracellular proteins elaborated by eleven strains of streptococcus mutans cultured in a chemically-defined medium; The ability of various substances to inhibit the enzymatic action of dextransucrase.
