First Order Internal Stresses under Unidirectional and Reverse Friction,

Abstract

The paper discusses the effect of reversibility of sliding on the curve of internal stresses of the first order during friction on thin plates, and also the effects of lubrication, including surfactants, on the character of the curves of internal stresses. An example of the friction of red copper plates is used to show the difference in internal stresses appearing respectively in surface layers in the presence of unidirectional and reverse sliding.
