Digital Address Thin Display Tube.

Abstract

ELEMENT DISPLAY WITH A RESOLUTION OF 55 HOLES PER INCH. This digitally addressed thin display tube is being designed to evaluate and demonstrate the feasibility of using this display concept to meet Army requirements for a computer output display. During this first quarter the display design (including switching plate design) was completed, cathode testing was initiated, a preliminary envelope configuration was generated, and the interface design was completed. In addition, a design was completed for a 160x256 resolution element device at 55 holes per inch. This device will be used to extrapolate to the performance of the 512x512 display, and to test the design philosophy. This smaller device will serve as a valuable aid in pinpointing possible problem areas much earlier in the program, allowing time for design modifications. (Author)
