Precision SSB Crystal Units

Abstract

deband communications), high frequency, reliability(electronics)The report deals with the history, theoretical model and derived postulates of design, processing and measurement of fundamental mode 5 MHz resonators capable of reaching an aging rate of 2 x 10 to the minus 10 power per week within eight weeks and withstanding wide range temperature cycling with no more than plus or minus 1 x 10 to the minus 8 power permanent shift in frequency per temperature cycle. Experimental work has been limited to attempts to replace bonding cements with electro-plated nickel bonds and thereby obtain optimal advantage from the higher temperature processing capabilities so afforded. The results of this work is generally promising.
