Abstract

The Bureau of Ships requested the David Taylor Model Basin to investigate methods for reducing submarine periscope vibration. Of a number of methods under investigation, the report describes tests in which the vibration of a cylinder, towed in the deep water basin was modified by a cable extended in front of the cylinder.
