Study of the Plasticization of Polyvinyl Chloride with Mixtures of Alpha-(Trichloromethyl)-Benzyl Caprate and Dioctyl Phthalate,

Abstract

The effectiveness of mixtures of plasticizers of polyvinyl chloride was investigated using alpha-(1,1,1-trichloromethyl)-benzyl caprate (I) and dioctylphthalate (DOF) as examples. It was shown that the physicomechanical properties of systems containing comparitively small doses of ester I and DOF, do not adhere to the law of additivity. With a total content of plasticizers at 30-40 pbw per 100 pbw of PVC samples plasticized with pure ester I possess higher physicomechanical indices. A clearly expressed synergic effect of the plasticization is observed.
