Ionospheric Electric-Field Instrument Program.

Abstract

The report describes a rocket-borne instrument designed and fabricated for the purpose of measuring ionospheric electric fields. The sensor consists of a pair of spherical aluminum spheres coated with Aquadag and mounted on insulators at the ends of deployable boom arms. The potential difference is measured by electronic circuitry contained in a cylindrical section of Nike-Tomahawk payload. (Author)
