En Route Air Traffic Flow Simulation.

Abstract

The report covers the conception, design, development, and initial implementation of an advanced simulation technique applied to a study of national air traffic flow and its control by En Route Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC). It is intended to be the first step in gaining an insight into the nature of the national flow control problem and into the utility and limitations of digital simulation for that end. A flexible digital computer simulation program has been developed for the U. S. air traffic system, restricted to positive controlled high altitude airspace. It is being validated.
