Use of Residues from the Centrifuging of Additives,

Abstract

The formation of residues is due to the excess of BaO used to prepare the lubricant additives. Barium is recovered by extracting with C6H6 the cake obtained by centrifuging of additives, obtaining a residue containing 57 to 62% Ba as BaO or CaCO3. The latter is reused as a neutralizing agent for additive preparation, thus reducing the consumption of fresh Ba(OH)2.
