Method of Detecting Damage in Operating Antifriction Bearings,

Abstract

An existing method of detecting damages in operating antifriction bearings consists in judging the state of the bearings by the appearance of a metal chip in the bearing assembly. A metal chip is detected, for example, with the help of magnetic plugs. The proposed method differs from the existing by the fact that tensoresistors are mounted onto the elastic element of the bearing assembly and bearing damage is judged by the change in the frequency spectrum of its output signal.
