Planning for Coastal Ports on a Systems Basis: Preliminary Methodological Design.

Abstract

A representative sample of the literature relating to multiport deep draft transportation systems is reviewed, for the purpose of defining the major fields requiring investigation and identifying the methodologies which hold promise for use by the Corps of Engineers. Quantitative models for economic forecasting, shipping operations studies, and port planning and design are included as well as several large-scale comprehensive transportation planning models. An annotated bibliography and a computerized bibliographic index are included in the report. (Author)
