A Study of Advanced Mechanization.

Abstract

The report presents the results of a survey of an important segment of computer-based automation; namely, that dealing with mechines that can perform useful material-handling, assembly, and quality control tasks without continuous human sensing, manipulation, and control. The intent has been to assess the implications for industrial and military application, the limitations of available machines, and to recommend developments required to satisfy identified needs.
