Molecular Metal Laser

Abstract

The report describes theoretical and experimental research to determine the feasibility of an electron beam excited high-pressure Hg dissociation laser operating on the excimer continuum band. A model of the excitation recombination, and molecular formation processes is presented. Experimental observations of the spectra in the 1-10 atm pressure range are presented, together with time decay studies of the continuum band.
