Development of Fuel Filter Condition Indicator for M35A2 2 1/2 Ton Truck.
Abstract
An investigation was conducted to develop a fuel filter condition indicator for the M35A2, 2 1/2 ton truck. This included quantitative determination of the characteristics of a clogged fuel filter and the design, fabrication and testing of a device to provide fool proof indication of this condition. The sensor developed employs a spring loaded piston to sense the pressure differential across the filters and a flexible diaphragm to provide a positive seal between the filtered and unfiltered fuel. Motion of the piston trips a switch which causes the indicator lights in the cab of the vehicle to change from green to red. A manual reset button on the device under the hood also provides a tactile indication of fuel filter condition. (Author)
