Radiation-Stable Precision Quartz Oscillators.

Abstract

The objective of the research program was the radiation testing of resonators fabricated from a recently developed synthetic quartz (Premium-Q) swept with high-purity platinum electrodes. Ten resonator units from five bars were tested for both transient frequency drifts and accumulated frequency offset in a pulsed high-energy electron environment. Four resonator units from four bars were tested in a mixed neutron/gamma environment. Results are discussed.
