Carton/Motor Sample Correlation.

Abstract

A difference has been observed in the mechanical properties of propellant taken from a dissected motor after storage and carton samples which have been similarly stored. This discrepancy in data values has been attributed to an exotherm during cure which increases temperatures as much as 15F in the motor samples compared with carton samples. The objective of the program is to determine whether altering the carton sample cure temperature history can correspondingly alter the carton sample mechanical properties so as to permit a more accurate calculation of actual motor properties. The necessary equations, coefficients, and parameters have been established, and it is believed that the program objective can be accomplished. (Author)
