Evaluation of Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic Hardened Manholes.

Abstract

The PRAIRIE FLAT Event of the MIDDLE NORTH Series, Bell Laboratories Project LN-116, involved the evaluation of blast resistance of buried fiberglass-reinforced plastic hardened manholes designed for use in Bell System hardened L-4 coaxial cable transmission systems. Data comparisons were made with a previous manhole test at the Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station. Also, comparisons were made of responses of a manhole buried in clay with one buried in sand at the same overpressure range. (Author)
