Experimental Capabilities of the ARL Sediment Tank Facility in the Study of Buried Object Detection.

Abstract

An underwater acoustics research tank at Applied Research Laboratories has been modified for use in research pertaining to the detection of objects buried in a water-filled sand. Parameter and design data on this facility are presented for both linear and parametric acoustic measurements. It is shown that a wide range of acoustic parameters can be used in the simulation of in situ conditions. (Author)
