Determination of Molecular Invariants Alpha' and Gamma'

Abstract

The determination of the polarizability invariants and particularly the derivatives of the invariants, the isotropic and anisotropic parts alpha' and gamma', necessary for the prediction of the Raman scattered intensity are considered. It is shown that a simple method based on the angular dependence of the scattered Raman intensity can be used to obtain these invariants, provided the polarization of the incident radiation is known.
