An Experimental Study of the Hydrodynamics of Fiber Formation in a Tube,

Abstract

The fiber formation theory (Vinogradov, Yu.A.; Fikhman, V.D., 1971) from poly(vinyl chloride) dimethyl formamide solutions in a tube filled with water was verified by experiment. As predicted the increase in the number of the spinneret orifices increased the diameter of the coagulating stream entrained by the fibers. The calculated pressure drops along the coagulating tube and the hydraulic velocity gradients agreed well with the experimental values. (Author)
