Effect of Stress-Gradient on the Elastic-Plastic Behavior of Thick Walled Cylinders,

Abstract

The elastic-perfectly plastic behaviors of thick-walled circular cylinders under internal pressure are investigated in the present report. The investigations are based on a modified form of Tresca yield condition in which the effects of stress gradients are taken into accoumt. Firstly, it is assumed that the cylinder is incompressible in the elastic range as it is in the plastic range. Next, the cylinder is considered to be compressible in the elastic range. (Author)
