Strang Type Difference Schemes for Multidimensional Problems.

Abstract

The purpose of the report is to present some explicit finite difference schemes for solving initial value problems of hyperbolic type. Use is made of Strang's theorem which states that the solution of a difference equation approximates the (sufficiently smooth) solution of the system of partial differential equations if the first variation of the difference scheme is stable.
