Investigation of Electronically Tunable Optical Filters.

Abstract

Work is aimed at the development of a new type of electronically tunable optical filter. The basic idea of this filter is to use collinear acousto-optic diffraction in an optically anisotropic media. Work has thus far been divided into two phases. First, a general analysis of the collinear diffraction process for an arbitrary direction of propagation in an optically and acoustically anisotropic crystal has been performed. Second, development of the first acousto-optic filter has begun and has proceeded rapidly.
