The Use of Thin Layer Chromatography for the Determination of Antioxidants in Vulcanized Rubber

Abstract

Antioxidants are added to unvulcanized and vulcanized rubber in order to protect them from the effect of the oxygen of the air and from ozone. In the report, a method for the quantitative determination of phenyl-beta- naphthylamine, N-phenyl-N-isopropyl-p-phenylenediamine, and p-hydroxyphenyl- beta-naphthylamine and their combined presence in crude vulcanized rubber mixtures and vulcanizates, is described.
