The Atomization of Liquid and Two-Phase Flows

Abstract

The theory of the spraying of a liquid fuel into a supersonic gaseous stream and of the flow of the dispersed liquid is examined. Systems of equations are presented for 2 phase flow at the initial and main portions of the stream. These equations were solved with a computer and the region of vaporization of the fuel into the supersonic jet was determined. Calculations for streams at Mach 2 are in good agreement with expectations.
