Elastic Constants of Some Fiber-Reinforced Materials.

Abstract

Elastic constants were determined, experimentally and analytically, for some fiber-reinforced composite materials including boron-aluminum, boron-epoxy, and fiberglas-epoxy. Ten combinations of fiber volume fraction and lamina orientation were investigated. Experimental values were obtained by means of electric resistance wire strain gages, analytical results from the Halpin-Tsai equations, and the laminate constitutive equations. (Author, modified-PL)
