Abstract

PLAYS)), CATHODE RAY TUBES, DIGITAL SYSTEMS, MILITARY REQUIREMENTS, FEASIBILITY STUDIES, INTERFACES, LOGIC CIRCUITSFLAT PANEL DISPLAYSThe report describes the progress which occurred during the second quarter of a Research and Development contract to develop a 512x512 resolution-element display with a resolution of 55 holes per inch. This digitally addressed thin display tube is being developed to evaluate and demonstrate the feasibility of using this display concept to meet Army requirements for a computer output display. During the second quarter the substrate and electroding masks were ordered, a preliminary cathode-design was tested, an envelope configuration was selected and ordered, the logic and interface design was completed, including ordering of all parts, and the high-voltage switches and modulator design was completed. In addition, the first 160x256 resolution-element device at 55 holes per inch was fabricated and tested. (Author)
