Water Pollution Survey - McGuire AFB, New Jersey.

Abstract

The industrial waste activities at McGuire AFB, New Jersey presently discharge waste water to South Run with little or no treatment. An industrial waste and stream sampling survey was conducted at McGuire AFB to determine the magnitude of the pollution problems and to recommend abatement measures. It was determined that the quality of water in South Run was impaired by Fort Dix partially treated domestic sewage and McGuire AFB industrial waste discharges. Fort Dix plans to construct additional waste treatment facilities. To abate pollution from McGuire AFB, recommendations have been made in this report for each waste source--mainly discharge to the sanitary sewer system after oil separation. If these recommendations are carried out, the quality of water in South Run should be greatly improved. (Author)
