Fabric Properties and the Wear of Hovercraft Fingers.

Abstract

The wear of fingers made from 16 types of coated fabric has been studied on an SRN 5 hovercraft operated by the Interservices Hovercraft Unit. Laboratory determinations of a number of properties of these fabrics have been made, and the results correlated with the wear behaviour using correlation and factor analysis techniques. The extent to which the laboratory tests enable wear to be predicted has been investigated. (Author)
