Transonic Flow at a Slotted Test Section Wall.

Abstract

The aim is to arrive at a better understanding of the structure of slot flow under different conditions (inflow, outflow, presence of wall boundary layers, etc.) in order to compute wall corrections with required accuracy. As a first step towards this end, using simple and available tools, the investigation is concerned with: (1) Experimental study of slot flow in a small transonic wind tunnel; (2) Elementary theoretical analysis of slot flow with a schematic boundary layer; (3) Numerical computation of near-sonic flow in a slotted test section using simplified boundary conditions.
