Dielectric Lens Model

Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the design and measure the performance of phase-corrected horn antennas employing the dielectric lenses. The objective is to provide data for a dielectric lens antenna system to be evaluated in a satellite communications link. The frequency range of interest is from 15 to 60 GHz with maximum interest from 20 to 30 GHz. Computer programs were used to design lenses having two refracting surfaces and uniform amplitude distributions across the apertures for linked styrene for the lens material. Their performance was measured both individually and in array combinations, and the performance of larger arrays was predicted.
