Project IMPACT Software Documentation: V. File Activity Control System (FACS).

Abstract

The Project IMPACT File Activity Control System (FACS) is an authoring aid used to assist in the development of instructional text. FACS provides printouts of textual elements in the exact format that they appear to the student on the cathode ray tube. FACS also provides printouts of logical units of instructional elements in compressed form. FACS allows an author to perform character string searches on the instructional text files in order to identify elements that contain specified character strings. Instructional elements can be stored with administrative data identifying the author of the text and the date of preparation. Generally, FACS prints this information with its reports and allows modification. The report describes the use and operation of the FACS system. Reports produced by FACS are also described. The report contains IBM 370 PL/1 program listings. (Author)
