Free-Bound and Bound-Bound Pressure Dependent Absorption Coefficients of Argon.

Abstract

Free-bound relative continuum-absorption cross sections are presented for the first ninety excited s, p and d states of neutral argon. Wavelength, pressure and temperature dependent Xi factors are derived for free-bound transitions using the above factors and hydrogenic cross sections for all the other excited states. Weak bound-bound transitions are also included in this analysis. A wavelength dependent Xi factor is also derived for these transitions. Comparisons of the above Xi factors are made with experimental measurements. (Author)
