Abstract

The article presents, in popular - scientific form a brief history of the development of Soviet atomic science and technology. It discusses in some detail the nuclear physics laboratories, reactors, and peaceful uses of atomic energy. Some detail is devoted to the developments in atomic science and technology in countries of the Soviet bloc. (Author)
