Investigation of the Process of Formation of Crosslinked Polyurethane on the Basis of Oligomers in the One-Stage Method,

Abstract

A study has been made of the process of solidification of a system on the basis of polypropylene glycol with a molecular weight of 1000 and 2000, 4,4'-diphenylmethanediisocyanate, and trimethylolpropane. It is shown that the process of gelation for this three-component system begins earlier than in the case of a two-component system, which does not correspond to existing theories of gelation. On the basis of the data obtained the causes of the deviation from the theory of gelation are discussed and assumptions are made concerning the possible mechanism for the process of formation of crosslinked polyurethane from oligomers in the one-stage method.
