An Investigation of the Structure of Polyacrylonitrile by a Method of Experimental Correlations between the IR-Spectroscopic and Strength Characteristics,

Abstract

The dependence of the dichroic ratio of a number of absorption bands of the IR-spectrum of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) within the range of 1000-2300/cm, on the degree of directionalized drawing, was obtained. An experimental correlation between the tensile strength and the dichroic ratio of the absorption band at 1247/cm of PAN was established. Based on the use of the indirect method of investigating the structure, the assumption is made that PAN is a two-phase amorphous-crystalline system. (Author)
