Ultranarrowband Tunable Dye Laser for New Approaches to Atomic Spectroscopy.

Abstract

The report consists of two preprints: 'Intensity Stabilization of Dye Laser Radiation by Saturated Amplification, a novel scheme to reduce the relative intensity fluctuations of extremely narrowband filtered dye laser radiation with a partly saturated high gain traveling wave dye laser amplifier; and 'Spectroscopy with Tunable Lasers,' reviewing by T. W. Hansch, which will be published in the Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Atomic Physics.' Boulder, Colorado, August 7-11. 1972. This paper reviews the present state of the art in the development of tunable laser sources and demonstrating the wide potential of such lasers as a research tool in spectroscopic investigations.
