Effective Modulus Plate Theories with Application to the Plate Strip.

Abstract

An effective modulus theory is obtained by a direct reduction from the velocity corrected Sun effective stiffness theory by setting all microstructure terms to zero. Two additional theories are obtained by reducing the Mindlin plate theory for ortho-tropic materials to a transversely isotropic theory with Postma elastic constants and by separately considering the cases of velocity correction and shear correction of the resulting theory. Numerical results for and compari-sons of the three theories are presented. (Author-PL)
