Steady State Crack Propagation in Orthotropic Media.

Abstract

The problem of a semi-infinite crack propagating at constant speed in an orthotropic solid is considered, and the solution is obtained by use of Riemann-Hilbert theory. Asymptotic forms of the stress field in the neighborhood of the crack tip are determined, and are found to be similar to those for the corresponding isotropic problem. (Author)
