Spillway for Oakley Dam Sangamon River, Illinois. Appendix A: Type 2 (Revised) Spillway; Hydraulic Model Investigation.

Abstract

A description of the proposed Oakley Dam is contained in Part 1 of the main report, which reported results of tests made on the spillway of original design and to which this is an a appendix. The tests reported herein were considered desirable to verify the adequacy of the spillway after after changes were made in the original design. The general purpose of the model tests was to determine what effect the 7-ft reduction in spillway crest (from el 628 to 621) would have on discharge characteristics, stilling basin performance, and riprap protection. To accomplish the purpose, the revised spillway was constructed to a scale of 1:60 and installed in the existing general model. Details of the model are shown.
