Effect of an Oil Base on the Lubricating Ability of Plastic Lubricants,

Abstract

The hydrocarbon greases, except those prepared from isoparaffinic oils, had lubricities imilar to those of the base oil. Li greases with hydrocarbon oil base differed considerably from the base. Li soaps and surfactants reduced wear more than the nonpolar solid hydrocarbons. A qualitative correspondence was detected between the antiwear properties of the oils and greases prepared with these oils. (Author)
